Our Support Groups Are Currently Forming!

The REDI Program:

The REDI Program is a skills-based, didactic teletherapy group designed to help those whose wellbeing and relationships may be suffering as a result of difficulties regulating their emotions and behaviors. The goal of this group is to help individuals in their journey to improve control over their emotions and mind, gain agency in their world, and lead a life worth living. The material covered in the REDI Program is based on an effective, research based therapy called Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This group will take place between 6:00pm and 8:00pm on Tuesday evenings and will start in October 2023.

This group will cover skills from a variety of domains including:

  • Mindfulness
  • Tolerating distress
  • Regulating emotions
  • Effectively navigating interpersonal relationships

This is a mixed gender group for individuals ages 18 and older who live in Maryland, Washington, D.C., or Virginia. Individuals both with or without prior DBT experience are welcome. Interested parties who are already working with an individual therapist may attend The REDI Program as an adjunct to their ongoing therapy. The group is led by Hyejin Jin, Ph.D. and Brittany Leibowitz, Psy.D. 

The Q-Support Group:

The Q-Support Group is a semi-open ongoing teletherapy interpersonal process group designed to help teens who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community who are experiencing stress, anxiety, and/or problems with low mood. The goal of this group is to provide a safe and comfortable place for teens to receive support from other members of their community, discuss self and community advocacy, process the impact of prejudice, and improve interpersonal communication. This group will take place between 6:00pm and 7:00pm on Wednesday evenings and will start in October 2023.

This group will help teens:

  • Give and receive support from other teens in the LGBTQIA+ community
  • Improve their ability to give and receive feedback from others
  • Improve their ability to cope with life stressors
  • Process the impact of prejudice
  • Improve interpersonal communication and social problem solving
  • Strengthen their relationships with others
  • Discuss how our cultural identities impact our interactions with others

This is a mixed gender group for 14- to 17-year-old teens who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community and live in Maryland, Washington, D.C., or Virginia. Individuals with and without prior therapy experience are welcome. Teens currently engaged in individual therapy are also welcomed to join. The group is led by Patrick Love, Ph.D. and Maya Cook, M.A. 

The Building Social Confidence Group:

The Building Social Confidence Group is a skills based, in-person, experiential group to assist individuals in breaking the cycle of social anxiety that might be limiting a person’s ability to make meaningful social connections. This group will take place between 6:00pm and 7:30pm on Tuesday evenings and will start in October 2023.

This group will help members:

  • learn cognitive skills to reframe anxious thoughts
  • confront anxiety-provoking situations
  • practice engaging in social interactions
  • build skills and confidence for engaging in social situations

This is a mixed gender group for individuals 18 and older and will be held in-person at our DC office on Tuesday evenings. Individuals with and without prior group therapy experience are welcome. This is a time-limited group of 12 sessions. The group is led by Ryo Noguchi, Ph.D.
