Background

Emma Muscari, Ph.D., is an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist who is committed to providing culturally appropriate, inclusive, and trauma-informed care. Her areas of expertise include sexual health, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), interpersonal relationship difficulties, and insomnia. She completed her predoctoral internship at the VA Medical Center in Philadelphia, where she was a part of the Sexual Health/Wellness team and co-led the Transgender and Gender-nonconforming support group. Dr. Muscari is a graduate of East Carolina University. She comes from a Health Psychology training background and has worked in a variety of settings including family medicine, cardiology, outpatient mental health, the VA medical center, nursing homes, and hospitals. She utilizes evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and exposure-based therapies. Her approach to therapy is collaborative and non-judgmental. Dr. Muscari provides both in-person and telehealth services to adults at our Washington DC office.
