Background
Laura Taouk is a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology (PhD) program at American University. Over the past four years, she has provided individual and group therapy to clients with diverse backgrounds and identities in a variety of mental health settings, including the Counseling Center at American University, the James J. Gray Psychotherapy Training Clinic, the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and the Catholic University of America Counseling Center. Laura takes an integrative approach to therapy; she draws upon humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, and other evidence-based treatments considered within a multicultural framework and tailored to the needs of individual clients. She strives to promote safe, collaborative therapeutic relationships. Her clinical interests include anxiety, depression, and trauma, as well as identity development and interactions between mental and physical health. Her professional affiliations include the American Arab, Middle Eastern, and North African Psychological Association (AMENA-Psy). Laura sees patients in our Washington DC office.
