Election Anxiety? Article in The Atlantic Suggests Coping Strategies

The course of the 2016 presidential election has triggered anxiety for a number of people across the political spectrum.  In an article titled “How to Preserve Your Mental Health Despite the 2016 Election”, author Robinson Meyer interviews several mental health experts, including Capital Institute Director Dr. Stephen Holland.  Among the recommendations are recognizing that anxiety is a normal reaction, talking to others about your concerns, thinking about likely outcomes rather than dwelling on the worst possible scenarios, focusing your attention on things you can control in your own life rather than worrying about things you cannot influence, taking action to support candidates and causes you believe in, meditation and other relaxing activities, and acceptance that in this election, as in life in general, there may be events that you do not like but can live with.
