Health care providers working with patients who may have COVID-19 are experiencing high levels of stress. They may be witnessing critically ill and dying patients on a daily basis. At the same time, they must worry about their own health and that of their families. The emotional toll is tremendous. It is no wonder that health care workers are reporting increased levels of anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
In an effort to help where we can in this crisis, therapists at the Capital Institute for Cognitive Therapy are offering free counseling to health care workers who are exposed to COVID-19 patients and who are not currently patients of the Institute. We will provide up to three free sessions of psychological support and coping strategies. We will also help assess whether on-going treatment would be recommended and assist with identify resources for continued support where appropriate.
